Show Notes for Episode 211 with Rebekah Weigel

Rebekah Weigel, writer and producer of Sound of Hope Film: The Story of Possum Trot, discusses the journey to making this film and the foster care crisis.

Today’s Guest: Rebekah Weigel began her career in the field of psychology, which informed her eventual work in the entertainment industry. She writes and produces with her husband, Joshua, bringing powerful and spiritually significant stories to the screen. Her work includes the critically acclaimed short film, The Butterfly Circus, which won over 35 film festival awards, including the esteemed Clint Eastwood Filmmaker Award. Rebekah is also a foster/adoptive parent, and has become a fierce advocate for the reversal of the foster crisis in America. This work led to her championing the Possum Trot story as an independent feature film aimed at ending the foster crisis.

Film Synopsis: Sound of Hope:The Story of Possum Trot follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible—adopting 77 children—this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.
