Speaking

Katie M. Reid encourages others to find grace in the unraveling of life. As a Bible teacher, she uplifts audiences through: transparent confessions, memorable object lessons, and timeless truth. Her book, Made Like Martha: Good News for the Woman Who Gets Things Done released in July 2018 with WaterBrook. Katie and her husband, Adam, co-host the “Stop! Hammock Time” marriage show, and she and Lee Nienhuis co-host The Martha + Mary Show podcast. Katie supplies encouragement for busy women at: katiemreid.com and has published articles on: Focus on the Family, MOPS, Huff Post, TODAY’s Parenting Blog, Proverbs 31, Crosswalk, and more. Katie delights in her hubby, five loud children, and their life in ministry. She speaks at conferences, retreats, camps, churches, and events. Katie is also available for podcast, radio, and TV interviews.

Please use the contact form for speaking inquiries.

The first three options listed below are Katie’s retreat packages: Beloved Daughter, Rooted In Joy, and Refreshed & Renewed. Please keep in mind that each of the sessions, listed below the retreat description, can be used as a keynote message.

Speaking Topics (Retreats/Keynotes):

Beloved Daughter: Identity in Christ
“Grace is a gift to be received not a prize to be earned.” For decades, Katie tried to earn (and keep) God’s favor with exemplary behavior, until a dusty living room revelation changed all that. Through personal testimony, Biblical truth, and memorable object lessons, Katie takes you on a journey from living with a “hired help mentality” to a “beloved daughter’s mentality.” Move from striving to settledness as you are freed to work and rest from a place of strength and peace in this moving message, based on Luke 10:38-42 (Martha and Mary). This topic can stand alone but also works well for a three or four part series for retreats.
Session 1: The Hired-Help Mentality
Session 2: A Beloved Daughter’s Mentality
Session 3: Walking Out Your Identity in Christ

Rooted in Joy

Many women fight for joy and peace on a regular basis. Uncover ways to confront the unwanted joy robbers as you welcome in the joy restorers. Discover how to use the “Yield, Pause, and Breathe” method as you are equipped to curb guilt and embrace grace, leading to more joy. This message can stand alone or can be incorporated into three or four sessions for retreats.
Session 1: Joy Robbers
Session 2: Joy Restorers
Session 3: Radiating Joy

Refreshed & Renewed

Our personal stressors, our negative thoughts, and our busy schedules can weigh us down and make us feel anything but refreshed. Learn how to be lay down heaviness and pick up hope as you see things from a different vantage point. Be renewed body, mind, through a practical and powerful tool from Phil. 4:8, three powerful words to help you make wise decisions, and examples from Scripture about being restored. Listen to an adapted version of the Refresh Your Thinking message: this message here (this recording was geared toward moms but can easily be adapted for the needs of your group).

Session 1: Undress the Stress
Session 2: Refresh Your Thinking
Session 3: Soul Renewal

Stand Alone Messages:
Feasting on God’s Word

It’s easy to feel intimidated when studying the Bible. In this session, you will learn some simple yet exciting methods to help you feast on God’s Word and communicate His truth with ease. Katie is a trained Bible Study Leader. She simplifies key elements of the inductive study method and creatively instructs you to savor God’s Word, one bite at a time. Learn how to discover truth for yourself as you utilize these practical tools in your time of study.

The S.W.E.E.T Fruit of the Spirit

In a day and age where people are easily angered, offended, and quick to disagree, the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control—are important assets to grow our faith and showcase God’s character to a hurting world. Discover God’s part and your part in the fruit-maturing process, and how people who annoy you can help produce the sweetest fruit.

The Ladder Holding Leader

The Ladder Holding Leader (Katie Reid)
In a me-first, climb the ladder, hustle culture, it’s important to stay grounded in Truth. Discover how to maximize your influence by following the example of John the Baptist, who went lower for God’s glory. You too can be a ladder holding leader, helping others succeed, while having an even greater impact than solely climbing the ladder for yourself.

With examples of what not to do (from the Tower of Babel) and examples of what to do (through the example of the Acts 2 church), you will be encouraged and exhorted to link arms and serve shoulder to shoulder (as seen in the rebuilding of the wall in Nehemiah). This time is now for ladder-holding leaders to lead with the counter-cultural approach, like Christ and his early followers.

The Yes of Christmas

The holidays can be overwhelming and a source of pain. But what if saying yes to Christmas was the key that unlocked our joy? We don’t have to say yes to everything, but we are invited to say yes to the most important thing—Jesus, who said “yes” to Christmas and to us. The main character in Katie’s Christmas fiction book, Holly Noel, helps illustrate this point, since she learned to let go of unrealistic expectations and face the pain of the past in order to say yes to Christmas, with open hands.

Deep Breaths for the Christmas Season

The holidays can be a stressful time to navigate. With good-intentions we often over-work ourselves and over-stuff our calendar as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Using Martha from the Bible as a springboard, audiences will discover how to: Simplify their schedule, Exemplify God’s love, Delegate tasks, and Celebrate what’s already been done.

Topics for Parents:
Manna for Mama

God has provided three powerful tools to help us thrive in difficult moments and seasons. In this practical message, Katie shares how God supplies manna for the moment through: prayer, provision, and perspective. This session can easily be adapted to a wider audience. Watch a version of this message (that was geared toward moms) at the bottom of this page.

Connecting with Your Spouse in the Middle of the Craziness

Connecting with your spouse, amid the craziness of life, is not often convenient, but it is crucial to the well-being of your marriage. Katie shares barriers to connection, the cost of connection, and simple (yet important) ways to choose connection with your spouse. Listen to an audio version of this message that was given at the Auburn Hills Christian Center MOPS Group.

Dare to Connect with Your Kids

Katie and her daughter Brooklyn hosted a 31 Day blog series, called Grounded, where they dared moms and tween girls to connect with God and each other. In this fun session, Katie shares ideas to help you creatively connect with your kids in a memorable and meaningful way through challenges, like: I Dare You to Wear It, I Dare You to Eat It, and I Dare You to Say It! Each of these dares help foster an atmosphere of connection and belonging.

Goodbye, Mama Guilt!

We are hard on ourselves as moms. We all have room for growth but we’re doing a better job than we realize. Learn to curb comparison and speak kindly to yourself as you tap into Christ’s endless supply of grace—available in fullest measure. Exchange an “I’m never enough” mentality for the “God is more than enough” reality as you parent from a place of peace.

Managing Your Various Roles

It is an honor to be called to minister but it is tough when you are called to more than one thing. How do you thrive in the tug of war between Titus 2 and the other giftings that God has entrusted to you? This session will give you encouraging support and practical strategies to navigate the tension of working and ministering inside and outside of the home.

Topics for Creatives:
Releasing Creativity

Our Creator has entrusted us with gifts to utilize for His glory but often doubt, fear, and comparison hold us back from unlocking our creativity. Discover how to break free from that which holds you back as you are inspired to offer what’s in your head, heart, and hands through this interactive session.

Awakening the Image Bearer

Many creatives have been slowed or stopped by the hisses of the serpent (and others who echo his slippery sentiments). We often listen to the lie that we are not enough when it comes to offering our creativity to the world. The time is now to “Awake O Sleeper” and reflect the diverse, brilliant glory of the One whose image you bear—as you point wanderers to the Truth. In this session, you will be inspired to offer what God has placed within you and will be given an opportunity to respond creatively. Listen to this session from The Unleashed Worship Conference.

The Write Time is Now
Katie provides writers with twelve steps to get unstuck, so they can move forward on their writing journey. Through Scripture, personal story, examples of success and defeat, and time to free write, this empowering message will free writers to offer their words to the world, starting today.
