in #TightlyWoundWoman· Book Review· Five Minute Friday

Dear Tightly Wound Woman

Dear Tightly Wound Woman:

I just wanted to take a few minutes to let you know I care.

I see you there, worn-out at the end of a long day. A day filled with giving and doing and squeezing in just one more thing off that lengthy to-do list.

I understand your frustrations…that things didn’t go as planned, that the kids seemed uncontrollably and the demands too heavy…how you lost your temper and said those words you didn’t mean and wish you could take back.

Don’t hold it against yourself. You’re so hard on yourself and sometimes just not nice to yourself either.

You know what? I have good news! Even if it was a harried and stressful day, you are enough.

Oh, I know you don’t feel like you did enough or were enough but you are. You are loved, whether or not you made homemade rolls or served your family store bought bread.

You are enough, flaws and all, because of what Jesus did for you.

You can cease the striving, you can lay down the load. You can crawl up on His lap and tell him all about it (or cry out to Him behind a locked bathroom door).

Darling you can’t keep doing this to yourself- this beating up and the unrealistic expectations and trying to make perfect and hold it all together. You weren’t made for that.

But you were made for greatness. The greatness of the One Who formed you and knew that you would be a hard worker and would struggle with the “good enough”. Rest in His Sufficiency as you lay your tired head on that pillow.

You are noticed, you are seen and oh how you are loved.

Sincerely,
Katie

We may be wound up tight on the inside but we are also tightly wound to His side!

Reading this is the perfect ending to my day. I had a long busy week, and an overly full Saturday. Got a bit grouchy on my people. I’m headed to bed early, but I think I’ll spend a few minutes telling Jesus all about it. I’m laying down the load!
By the way, I saw some of your illustrations for Kate Motaung’s book. Awesome. Good work!

Hi Betsy! So glad, let’s lay down the load together. And thank you, it was so fun to create those images for Kate’s book.:)

You were speaking to me directly today as the Oracle of God…..isn’t amazing that out of the hardships, blessings are discovered from the time of darkness?
These words impacted me deeply…thank YOU:
