Note to self: When doing a video interview don’t have the computer so close and don’t be so nervous.
Seriously though, it was fun to share a few words with the Five Minute Friday community and hopefully inspire you to reach out to others, especially those who may live within driving distance.:) It was such a joy to have coffee with Beth and brownies with Kate this month.Let’s write for 5 minutes as we pull up a chair and pour out hope. This week’s prompt is: Visit.
It’s feels safe to stay…
to stay isolated, to have a perceived sense of control, to image-manage.But as I followed my out-dated GPS out of the city to the suburbs I knew that she was going to get more of the real me than she had seen on the screen, and I was kind of nervous about that. But I was tired…tired of my issues and ready to be more real so that I could get better. We had met online (I heard about her Three Word Wednesday link-up through Holly) and now Beth and I were meeting in real life, at Starbucks.
She bought me a hot chocolate and I spilled my guts about my struggles with platform and selfish-ambitions.
She smiled and shared and loved me right where I was.
And I didn’t scare her too much with my vulnerability because she wants to do it again.
This meeting, over warm beverages started to thaw my heart.
This visit reminded me of what I have been neglecting; real-life encounters with friends.
I had been hiding…waiting for others to come find me, but I needed to go to them and remember that although it can be messy it is necessary for our growth.
A visit can change us.
His visit to earth, changed everything.
Who will you visit this coming month?
Who will you let in so that you can learn and love better?
