Restoration Project: Do That Thing You’ve Been Avoiding

The Restoration Project 31 Day Series by Katie M Reid

Welcome to Day #24 of the Restoration Project.

Saturday is a great day for doing fun and relaxing activities. It is also sometimes used to tackle projects that we haven’t been able to get to during the week.

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather read, play outside or go for a run than face unpleasant chores that I’ve been avoiding. However, as I choose to take on those things then they won’t be hanging over my head anymore.

The laundry room is looming.

I’ve folded most of the clothes, but they are stacked up high on a five-tiered shelving unit waiting to be dealt with. My family will put their clothes away—except for the toddler—but I need to help supervise the process and make sure things get put into the correct drawers (and stay folded in the process). Can I get an amen?!

I could keep pretending the laundry isn’t there—if I keep the door shut. Or I could finally face the beast and follow-through.

I know I will be much more relaxed and ready to kick back and have fun when that annoying job is done.

So, what have you been avoiding? It might not be laundry.

It could be:

  • A hard phone call to a friend over that misunderstanding you had
  • Sitting down with your spouse to create a workable budget so you stop fighting about money so much
  • Scheduling that doctor’s appointment that you’re afraid to make (okay, they might be closed today, but you could leave a message)

Whatever you’ve been skirting around, why not face it today?

I’ll bet you’ll be relieved when the unpleasant task is done.

Sometimes we can rest and relax more easily after we face that hard thing we’ve been avoiding.

P.S. In case you missed it, my friend, Caryn, wrote a guest post yesterday about unplugging in order to create margin in our lives. Head on over and leave her some comment love.
