Five Minute Friday/Fringe Friday

Last weekend I had the honor of hanging out with Kate of Five Minute Friday for several hours as we talked about the books of our hearts (the ones we have written and are wanting to be picked up by agents and published). Our daughters connected immediately and filled the brick house with loud laughter; music to the soul.

Have you purchased Kate’s ebook Letters to Grief? It’s only 99 cents on Amazon and contains powerful words of understanding and validation for the hurting. It was a delight to create some images to help support Kate’s book.

I’m so happy to be joining the #fmfparty this week as we write about the prompt, WHEN.
Link-up with us, we’d love to have you. You are welcome here.

When?

It can be a loaded question, a vulnerable one.

  • When will we get there?
  • When will she change?
  • When will I feel like enough?
  • When will they reach out and invite me into their circle?

“When” can communicate longing. When will this end so I can feel better again?
“When” can stir up hope. When I get home I am going to sit down and read you a story as we cuddle.

What is your “when”?

  • When will this book of my heart get picked up by an agent and published for the masses?
  • When will we move into a new house? The one we are dreaming of. The one that is closer to town and will provide room for many to gather ’round the table.
  • When will we find the youngest girl that we have been praying for all these years?

Oh how He cares about the “when”.

When He comes all will be made right.
When He arrives we will bow at His feet (see Philippians 2:10).
When He speaks we will recognize His voice.

He answers the “when?” with Himself, with His love, today.

Today I am also linking-up with Jessica Turner for Fringe Friday as we share how we spend our #FringeHours.

When I take time for myself (usually early morning, during rest time or late at night)I enjoy reading and writing.

On this blog I share my writing and also do reviews so that you can learn about books that you might want to read.

I also enjoyplaying the piano, singing and songwriting. Just in time for Valentine’s Day I am offering you 4 free downloads from my album, Echoes of My Heart. I’d appreciate it if you’d share the love with others too. If you’d be so kind as to leave a review on Amazon that would be icing on the heart-shaped cookie.:)

The entire album is available for purchase on my blog, Amazon or iTunes. I wrote the song Completely with my hubby and I wrote the Soil and Roots poem for him, in honor of our love. I think these two tracks are especially fitting for Valentine’s Day. All proceeds between now and the end of February will go towards my daughter’s Jesus Wells project.

I am delighted to be a part of Jessica’s book launch team. On Tuesday I will post by book review, but for now I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes from Fringe Hours:

pg. 83 “…Kids are never going to remember the condition of your cabinets, but they will remember what their home felt like. They will remember if their mom was always cleaning, or if she was relaxed enough to abandon the dusting and go hang out on the deck. They will remember whether mom was always frustrated by “another mess” or allowed them the joy of playing with a fort left up for days in the living room.”

pg. 82 “Once I freed myself from the bondage of perfection and embraced a lifestyle that made time for my passions, I was happier in all of my pursuits and responsibilities.”

pg. 89 “Our commitments should not overrun our lives to the point that we don’t take care of ourselves. Quiet time to invest in ourselves and become restored is incredibly important.”

pg. 31 “Just because something is a good thing doesn’t mean it is good for this moment in your life.”

pg. 87 “Good enough is not about aiming lower of doing less or slacking off. It’s about knowing what’s good enough for one woman isn’t necessarily what’s good for another. And that if we’re living up to our own standards there isn’t anything more to want.”

Head on over to FringeHours.com to learn more.

Making time for you is a gift to those entrusted to your care.

I love that you said ‘we will recognize his voice’. Sometimes we don’t know what we need – but when we hear it, when we hear HIM, time stands still and there’s no more aching for tomorrow. He is here, and He is all we need.

When He comes all will be made right. What a beautiful reality this is, that He is going to make it all right… I cannot wait (but I will) for this “when”

I love that you got to meet Kate! What a blessing. I love your heart for community and of course for speaking to women like me who need to let go and let God. Thank you for sharing. I have ordered Fringe Hours so I am looking forward to reading it. However, it might not be as soon as I would like. Happy Weekend!

The comfort you get, knowing that your faith will pull you through the difficult times (and help you celebrate the easier ones) is beautiful. I love that you recognize both the positive and negatives of when – and the potential it brings. 🙂
    Blessings to you,
    Melissa

It is hard to trust as we wonder when our trials will end. I’m so glad we have Him to walk with us while we wait. 🙂
